The Hayl Driver application is designed and developed for the use of Drivers. The Hayl Controller application is designed and developed for the use of Controllers.
This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.
If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which are accessible at https://www.hayl.me.uk/terms unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.
We collect personal and activity data such as device information, usage and log information. Complete details on each type of data collected are provided in the dedicated sections of this privacy policy or by specific explanation texts displayed prior to the Data collection. These data will be collected automatically when using the application. Drivers will be required to login with a secure password to start using the application.
Unless specified otherwise, all data requested by this Application is mandatory and failure to provide this data may make it impossible for this Application to provide its services. In cases where this Application specifically states that some data is not mandatory, Users are free not to communicate this Data without consequences to the availability or the functioning of the Service.
It is mandatory for precise or approximate location data on foreground (app open and on-screen) or background (open app but not on-screen) of the Driver’s mobile device to be collected when the application is running, the Driver has logged in with their secure credentials, and signed in to accept work. Collection of location data ceases when the Driver signs out from a work session. We use this data to accomplish the core purpose of the Application. We do not sell this data, and we do not share it with any third party except as described under “Road Speed Information” below.
Journey Records
While a Driver is carrying out a Booking, we record the route their Vehicle actually travels. Each position reading is stored against that Booking and against the Driver who carried it out, together with the time it was taken. We use these journey records to:
Position readings are recorded only while a Booking is in progress. We do not create a journey record when a Driver is signed in to accept work but is not carrying out a Booking, and we do not create one when the Driver is signed out.
Road Speed Information
We combine journey records from all Drivers who use the Service to work out how quickly traffic typically moves along each stretch of road at different times of the week. The result is a table of road speeds. It holds no Personal Information: each entry records only a stretch of road, a time of week and a speed, and it cannot be traced back to a Driver, a Vehicle, a Booking or a passenger.
A stretch of road appears in this table only once we hold at least five separate journeys along it, driven by at least two different Drivers. A stretch travelled only once, or travelled by only one Driver, is left out — so no entry in the table can describe a single person’s journey.
This table is shared across all Transportation Companies that use the Service, so that every Transportation Company benefits from more accurate estimates. Because it holds no Personal Information, no Transportation Company can learn anything about another company’s Drivers, Vehicles or Bookings from it.
How Long We Keep Journey Records
We keep the individual position readings that make up a journey record for 90 days from the date of the Booking, after which we delete them automatically.
We keep a summary of the journey — the outline of the route travelled, the distance covered, and the times the journey started and finished — against the Booking for as long as we hold the Booking itself, so that the Transportation Company retains a record of the work carried out.
The road speed information described above is anonymous and is kept indefinitely. It is not deleted when the position readings it was derived from are deleted, because by that point it can no longer be connected to any individual.

Log Data
We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.
Cookies
Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory.
This Service does not use these “cookies” explicitly. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use “cookies” to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do the necessary actions.

Please note that a Transportation Company decides what information is collected about its Drivers and Controllers in the course of their work, and we operate the Service on that company's behalf. If you would rather approach them directly, you are free to do so.
Two limits are worth stating plainly. Some information we cannot delete on request, because we are required to keep it — for example records a Transportation Company must retain to meet its own licensing or tax obligations. And the road speed information described above cannot be traced to any individual and cannot be separated back out, so it is not affected by a request to delete your journey records; the position readings behind it are deleted as described, but the anonymous speeds remain.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your Personal Information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
